FTP and SFTP What is it

FTP is the traditional file transfer protocol. It's a basic way of using the Internet to share files on your site.


SFTP (or Secure File Transfer Protocol) is an alternative to FTP that also allows you to transfer files, but adds a layer of security to the process.


We need access to FTP to access your site files when working on your site. You can find FTP & SFTP details where your site is hosted. We've attached an example of what the details look like.


FTP / SFTP Details we need:

  • Server Address
  • Username
  • Password
  • Port number
